Pennhurst Asylum is a seasonal haunted attraction located on the grounds of the former Pennhurst State School in Spring City, Pennsylvania. The nighttime experience features four haunted attractions that use the property’s imposing historic buildings, live performers, dark corridors, fog, strobe lighting, fire effects, and close‑contact scares to create an intense horror experience intended primarily for older visitors.
Beyond its Halloween events, Pennhurst offers guided daytime history tours that examine the buildings, artifacts, former residents, employees, and the institution’s connection to the disability‑rights movement. Visitors can also attend photography tours, paranormal events, and private overnight investigations. By combining theatrical horror with historical education and paranormal exploration, Pennhurst operates as both a haunted entertainment destination and a place for confronting the difficult legacy of the former institution.
